My connection with Slab City began several years ago. I first traveled there in 2014 curious to discover the community deemed as the “Last Free Place in the United States”. From that moment I have traveled each year far into the California desert to document the people and lifestyle of this peculiar corner of the world. I decided to begin filming out of personal curiosity and it quickly developed into a personal relationship with the characters that inhabit this unique place allowing me to film from an 'insider’ perspective. With the completion of this project, I invite the viewer into the world of misfits, vagabonds, travelers, artists and the die hards that choose to inhabit this desolate space thru the scorching hot Mojave Desert summers.
